Arizona-based Kitchell Contractors names Steve Whitworth as new president

Phoenix-based Kitchell Contractors has tapped Steve Whitworth to be president of the 67-year-old company.

He was promoted from vice president of Kitchell’s Texas division and takes over for Dan Pierce, who will retire after 36 years with the company.

“Over the past decade, he’s (Whitworth) demonstrated his commitment to his fellow employee owners by being a great mentor who hires strong talent, builds business and fosters growth and innovation,” said Kitchell CEO Jim Swanson.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital breaks ground on $60M project

Phoenix Children’s Hospital broke ground today on a $60 million project that will include a $40 million emergency department and a Level 1 pediatric trauma center. The center will accommodate 100,000 patients, up from PCH’s existing capacity of 22,000 patients. Kitchell will serve as the general contractor on the project.
