PHOENIX (April 9, 2012) – Kitchell recently broke ground on Simon Property Group’s Phoenix Premium Outlets in Chandler on land owned by the Gila River Indian Community.  Representatives from Kitchell, the Gila River Indian Community and Simon Property Group were on hand for the blessing ceremony. Architects Orange, based in Orange, California, is the designer. The retail center will open in Spring 2013.

Phase One of the project, which will be located directly adjacent to Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino (also built by Kitchell) off Wild Horse Pass Boulevard, will include 360,000 square feet of leasable space, or approximately 90 store fronts, in nine buildings. The project is expected to create more than 300 construction jobs over the next year and more than 800 permanent jobs once the center is open. The outlets are expected to generate more than $140 million annually in retail sales.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this grand new project,” said Vice President of Kitchell Native American Division Brad Gabel. “We look forward to deepening our relationship with both Simon and the Gila River Indian Community, with whom we’ve partnered with on previous projects.”

Kitchell has built dozens of Arizona’s most recognized shopping centers including Scottsdale Fashion Square, Biltmore Fashion Park, Shops at Arizona Center, Arizona Mills, and Factory Shops at Anthem, among many others.
