Kitchell acquires Bay Area facilities management firm

A Sacramento-based arm of construction firm Kitchell has acquired a Bay Area facilities management firm, putting 15 million square feet under one management group.

Kitchell CEM acquired Valley Facilities Management Corporation for an undisclosed amount, Kitchell officials announced this week. The acquired company’s management portfolio will be combined with what Kitchell was already managing in a new arm, Kitchell Facilities Management Inc.

Phoenix firm Kitchell buys in Silicon Valley

Phoenix-based construction firm Kitchell Corp. has bought a Silicon Valley-based facilities management company. Kitchell acquired San Jose-based Valley Facilities Management Corp. for an undisclosed price. The move grows Kitchell’s footprint in Northern California. The Arizona company has a construction management division based in Sacramento.

VFMC helps a number of Silicon Valley technology, Internet and biomedical companies take care of their facilities. Facilities management service go beyond property management and maintenance. Companies such as VFMC help technology companies maintain high-tech infrastructure such as data centers and medical firms with operations such as device manufacturing and labs.
